When the 1971 zodiac year began
In 1971, the Lunar New Year fell on Wednesday, January 27, 1971. The year of the Metal Pig ran from that day until February 14, 1972.
If you were born between January 1 and January 26, 1971, your animal is the Dog (Metal Dog, the 1970 year). People born from January 27, 1971 onward belong to the Pig.
The Metal Pig
In tradition, Metal is linked with clarity, determination and strong principles. Each animal comes around every 12 years, and with the five elements the same combination returns every 60 years. The Pig is traditionally linked with being warm and generous. Read more about the Pig in Chinese tradition.
