The place

Kailash describes itself as the main centre for Kadampa retreats in Europe, set in the historic village of Törbel in the Valais, with a large main building and a modern Kadampa temple overlooking the Matter and Saas valleys.

The centre teaches in the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT-IKBU), founded by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Its principal teacher is Gen Kelsang Devi. Its site presents Kadampa Buddhism as a Mahayana school going back to Atisha (982-1054).
