Buddhist Prayer for Peace: Words From the Buddha for a Peaceful World

1 min read · Updated

In short: a Buddhist prayer for peace is a wish of loving-kindness for all beings: "May they be happy and safe! May all beings be happy!" (Snp 1.8). It rests on the Buddha's teaching that "never is hatred laid to rest by hate, it's laid to rest by love" (Dhammapada 5), and that there is "no bliss beyond peace" (Dhammapada 202).

Peace begins with not answering hate with hate

"For never is hatred laid to rest by hate, it's laid to rest by love: this is an ancient teaching."
